The Beginning Champions program was started by billy bob in 1942, and started off as a 4th-6th grade only program. In 1992 Darwin Weibley took the program over, and in 1994 opened the program to 1st-3rd graders also, even accepting kindergartners on occasion. The program grew immensely and in 2002 the Beginning Champions also started a Duels Team. The Beginning Champions program prides itself in helping to introduce the sport of wrestling to children at a young age, and helping them get a great start building a solid wrestling background at a young age.
